Accompanying children and parents

A therapeutic pathway adapted to children and adults

Young or old, Sophrology and Hypnosis are for children, teenagers as well as for adults an often playful way to regain control of a situation that has become uncontrollable and provide gentle and effective solutions.
Whether it is a lack of self-confidence, stress, emotional management, screen addiction, sleep disorders, grief, nightmares. Difficulties that we can encounter at any age.
My aim is to help children (from the age of 6) and adults regain their autonomy, so that the whole family can finally breathe again and find serenity. Sometimes this also means that I give exercises or assignments to families as a whole. Change through fun, quite simply.
I am also happy to welcome adults (with or without children 😉 ) in their wholeness and completeness. Do not hesitate to contact me for yourself if you wish.

How the sessions take place

A first exchange

Write or call me, that's already the first step towards a change. Let's take a moment to talk about your concerns, your difficulties and get to know each other.
This first exchange will be free of charge and you are then free to make an appointment in one of my offices in Aigues-Mortes or in St. Laurent d'Aigouze or by videoconference.

Let's get to know each other

During our first appointment, I will welcome you and your child and I will first talk to him/her. After all, he/she is my client, isn't he/she? After an initial discussion in your presence, I suggest that you sit down in the waiting room for a first session of Sophrology or Hypnosis with your child.

Change while having fun

From now on, the space of the practice is reserved for the child. He/She and I continue to get to know each other and, through hypnotic games, breathing exercises, drawings and so on, he/she gets closer to his goal.

Back to the future

The moment of assessment
At the end of the third session, you, your child and I take stock. What has already been achieved, what remains to be done? Together we decide what to do next.

The next step

The process of coaching a child is often completed in 3 or 4 sessions. Depending on the problem, the change can sometimes take a little longer.

What else can you expect?
  • Practical tools to continue the change at home.
  • Possible recordings of relaxation exercises.
  • Playful "homework" to make the change happen even faster.
  • Better access to group workshops

Frequently asked questions children & teenagers

Why accompany children and adolescents today?

There are many reasons for a consultation. Children and teenagers often find it difficult to cope with everyday life with all its ups and downs. This is due to the fact that they absorb everything: opinions, emotions, beliefs...

Here are some of the difficulties for which they come to see me:
Lack of self-confidence, stress, relationship problems at home or at school, lack of concentration, learning difficulties, hypersensitivity, difficulty in managing emotions, sleep disorders, phobia, bedwetting, fear of other people's gaze, ...

Through coaching, a child receives tools that help him today, give him autonomy and will serve him throughout his life.

How does the first session work?

The first part of a first session always involves three or four people: the child, one or both parents and myself.

The child can then express himself/herself on what constitutes the difficulty for him/her, on the feelings that this arouses in him/her, etc. and on what he/she finally wishes to achieve. The parents are initially present as confidants and jokers. Later, they are also listened to and explain why they think their child needs help. It can happen that parents and children do not perceive the same problem. It is important that everyone involved becomes aware of this.
The most important thing for me is that we always talk with the child and not about the child.

Will I get feedback on the sessions with my child/young person?
As long as there is no danger to the child or to others, no. Even at a young age, confidentiality is important. Even at a young age, confidentiality is already important. However, we do regularly review how you perceive the child/young person's development.

Which method to choose?

This is usually up to the practitioner. With children, I prefer hypnosis and sophrology, then NLP from adolescence onwards.

My child does not want to be accompanied, what can I do?

His wish should be heard and taken seriously. It would certainly be counterproductive to accompany a child who does not want it and the results would be uncertain.
If you are unsure, we can discuss this beforehand by phone, and then I can offer to see you.

Can I attend the session with my child?

As a general rule, no. The child must be able to express himself freely and evolve in his world without being disturbed. Sometimes the presence of the parents can have a disturbing effect on the child. But if the child is initially afraid to be alone with the practitioner (a relationship of trust must first be established), this is of course possible. However, it is the child himself who must express this wish.

Will my child sleep?

Hypnosis in children is more dynamic than in adults. They can be quiet, of course, but they can also move, talk and, most of the time, have their eyes open. However, unlike the adult who seems to be sleeping (his eyes are often closed to isolate himself from the outside world, he is sometimes immobile), there is no loss of consciousness or sleep here. All exercises are only performed with the child's consent and therefore trust.

How to explain Sophrology to a child?

One could propose to him the metaphor of the small train:
Sophrology is this small magic train of which he (the child) is the driver. On board the small train, he will explore his body, discover the life which is in him and also explore the extraordinary capacities which he has in him. At the beginning it will seem a little strange to him but once launched it can have fun by borrowing certain unknown passages which become more and more normal!

Frequently Asked Questions Hypnosis, Sophrology and Brief Therapy

What are brief therapies?

There are a number of different brief therapies, including: Ericksonian Hypnosis, NLP, EMDR, CBT (behavioral and cognitive therapies), art therapy and others. A brief therapy is above all a structured method which proposes to obtain changes between 3 and 10 sessions.

Which brief therapy to choose?

As a general rule, the practitioner will determine the method to be used in collaboration with you. This makes the following question all the more interesting: Which practitioner should I choose? The relationship between the client and the practitioner has a great influence on the success of a session, whatever the method used.

Brief therapy and hypnosis?

Therapeutic hypnosis is one of the short term therapies. Through various hypnotic phenomena and a shift from the conscious to the unconscious mind, the client achieves a modified state of consciousness, the hypnotic trance. It is then possible to choose the path of the past to strengthen the inner child, the path of the future to determine the goal or purely symbolic work.

What are the limits of hypnosis?

You will not become another person, but you will come closer to yourself! Therefore, hypnosis is not magic and its success can never be guaranteed. You are the actor of your change!

There are situations in which support through Ericksonian hypnosis should be considered with caution. This is because a hypnosis practitioner is often not a doctor, psychologist or psychiatrist. They do not diagnose, treat or cure. Their services are not intended to replace a medical procedure or prescription. A good practitioner will therefore be honest with himself and with the client and will recommend a qualified colleague accordingly.

How many sessions are needed?

If you know the answer to this question, the figure will be how many?
For children, the change is usually between 3 and 4 sessions. For adults, 3 to 10 sessions are required. These numbers are by no means a guarantee.

From what age can one practice Sophrology?

The child must be able to formulate its feelings. In general, I receive children from 6 years.

Is Sophrology reimbursed by social security?

No, Sophrology is not refunded by social security. However, certain french mutual insurance companies take charge of whole or partial sessions.

Which are the contra-indications of sophrology?

There are no contraindications to practicing sophrology. All exercises can be adapted to the needs and abilities of the person.
